Show your support for Riverbend Park - Please sign our petition here!
Open space along Memorial Drive first started as a pilot in 1975, and became an incredible success and beloved community asset. In 1985, this open space was codified into Massachusetts law, allowing people to walk, bike, roll, and otherwise enjoy the Charles River on Sundays from April through November. From 2020-2022, Riverbend Park was expanded to include both Saturdays and Sundays to create more outdoor space for people, consistent with DCR's mission to expand access to our parklands.
Despite an extensive public process in 2022 which identified overwhelming public support, and a 7-2 city council vote, the DCR has now canceled this Saturday access.
Join us to show our policy makers how much we care about access to our parklands and community open space.
